Product Care
Caring for your Seven Continents products properly extends their life, protects your home, and keeps each scent performing at its best. Please read the guidance below before using any of our products.
Candle Care
Before lighting
- Trim the wick to ¼" before every use to prevent smoking, mushrooming, and an uneven flame.
- Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, flammable objects, and anything that could be knocked into it.
- Remove any debris from the wax pool before relighting.
While burning
- Allow the wax to melt completely to the edges of the container on the first burn (typically 2–3 hours). This prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn for the life of the candle.
- Never burn for more than 3–4 hours at a time.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep candles away from children, pets, curtains, and anything that can catch fire.
After burning
- Extinguish gently — a wick dipper or snuffer is ideal. Avoid blowing out, which can scatter embers and cause smoking.
- Allow wax to cool and harden completely before moving or relighting.
- Discontinue use when ¼" of wax remains in the vessel to avoid overheating the glass.
Using your candle on a warmer
- Use only with an electric candle warmer designed for jar candles (no hot plates or makeshift setups)
- Place the warmer on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable objects
- Never leave the warmer on unattended, and always turn off when leaving home or going to sleep
- Do not exceed 4 hours of continuous warming
- Once a candle has been used on a warmer, do not light the wick afterward — the wax composition and wick can be compromised
- Allow the candle and warmer to cool completely before moving or handling
- Discontinue use when ¼" of wax remains to prevent overheating the empty vessel
- Keep out of reach of children and pets (already covered, but applies here too)
Wax Melt Care
Getting started
- Use only with an electric or tea-light wax warmer specifically designed for wax melts.
- Place your warmer on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable objects, edges, and high-traffic areas.
- Begin with one cube. Add a second only if you'd like a stronger throw in a larger room.
While in use
- Never leave a warmer unattended, and always turn it off before leaving the room or going to sleep.
- Do not add water, oils, or anything else to the wax.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets — melted wax is hot and can cause burns.
Refreshing the scent
- Wax melts typically release fragrance for 8–10 hours. When the scent fades, it's time to replace the wax — the cubes themselves don't evaporate.
- To remove used wax: turn the warmer on for 1–2 minutes to soften the wax, then slide it onto a paper towel and discard. Alternatively, let the wax cool completely and pop the disc out.
- Wipe the dish with a dry paper towel between scents.
Important
- Never attempt to burn wax melts with an open flame.
- Discontinue use if the warmer becomes damaged or if wax has scorched.
Car Diffuser Care
Hanging your diffuser
- Hang from a spot where the diffuser will not come into direct contact with surfaces.
- Avoid contact with leather, upholstery, dashboards, painted finishes, and plastics. The fragrance oil can stain or damage these materials on contact.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Adjusting the scent
- Make sure wooden cap is on tight, and the plug is out. Simply tip the bottle over for a few seconds to saturate the wooden top for more scent.
Protecting your diffuser
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and extreme heat, which can cause the oil to leak, fade, or discolor.
- On hot days, keep the diffuser sealed when the car is parked and unattended for long stretches.
- If a spill occurs, blot immediately with a dry cloth — do not rub.
Lifespan
- Most car diffusers last 60+days depending on cap setting and climate. Replace when the scent fades.
- Do not ingest. Discard responsibly when finished.
Linen & Room Spray Care
Before you spray
- Shake well before each use to blend the fragrance.
- Always test on a small, inconspicuous area first — especially on delicate fabrics, silk, velvet, vintage textiles, or untreated wood.
- Hold the bottle 8–12 inches from the target surface.
How to use
- On linens, upholstery, and curtains: mist lightly and allow to dry completely before contact with skin.
- In a room: spray a few pumps into the air, away from people, pets, and plants.
- On bedding: spray sheets and pillowcases lightly before making the bed and allow to fully dry.
What to avoid
- Do not spray directly on skin, food, plants, pets, or open flames.
- Avoid spraying on electronics, screens, polished or painted finishes, unsealed wood, marble, or other porous stone.
- Do not use as a perfume or body spray.
Storage
- Store upright in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
- Keep tightly closed when not in use.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not ingest.
